Le Morne Brabant (Section 1)
Le Morne Brabant is the 556 m basalt monolith guarding the island's south-west tip, at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape that honours escaped slaves. The climb is only allowed from the official entrance run by the Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund. At present only Section 1 is open: a trail of about 2.5 km one way that climbs through dry scrub to Viewpoint 2, already offering a superb outlook over the lagoon, the peninsula and the kitesurf spots. The steeper Section 2 remains closed because of rockfall danger. Always check the Trust Fund's notices before you go.
No GPX track yet: the pin shows the start (or summit, see “Start”).
